A Warrior Dash 2012 in the Poconos!

The World's Largest Running Series is coming to the Pocono Mountains in 2012! Each Warrior race consists of 12 obstacles along a 5-6 K course followed by a Festival complete with live music, turkey legs, beer steins, and many other interactive events. Each individual is timed and broken into 12 competitive age divisions. Come to the event in costume if you choose to! Before the race, Warrior Dash organizers provide parking on site or a free shuttle system from an offsite parking venue. Racers pick up their race packet at the designated "Packet Pick-Up Tent."

Much Entertainment is provided including live music from top 40 to rock genres. Other forms of Entertainment provided include Fireworks, Axe Throwing Contests, Chainsaw Carving Displays, and many more. There is plenty of food options that are very broad including Turkey Legs, Veggie Burgers, Pork Sandwiches, and much more. All of this fun mixed with competition is for a Great Cause providing the opportunity for event goers to donate to The Green Sneakers Foundation. This Organization helps support needs on a global scale through the reuse of of collected sneakers as affordable footwear to people in need around the globe. Sherman Hosts Downtown Pocono Raceway Festival

Stroudsburg, PA (6/1/2009) - This Saturday the Sherman Theater will celebrate NASCAR's rich history in the Poconos with its inaugural Pocono Raceway Festival event hosted on Main Street in Stroudsburg. Running from noon to 8 p.m. the free festival features an assortment of NASCAR vehicles, live entertainment, games and race simulators, vendors, sidewalk sales, and for the first time ever - a free street concert by the Marshall Tucker Band. The theater will host a dedication ceremony on the festival's main stage in front of the Sherman Theater at 1:30 p.m. The dedication welcomes such notable guests as NASCAR president Mike Helton, Pocono Raceway founder Dr. Joseph Mattioli and current raceway president Brandon Igdalsky along with other invited guests of NASCAR. Immediately following the ceremony, the Sherman Theater will recreate history as it stages a reshoot of one of Stroudsburg's most popular historic photos which was taken directly in front of the Sherman Theater sometime in the late 1940s. ledville@noln.com
"With our new marquee in place, the festival seemed like the ideal time to reshoot the photo," said Sherman Theater President and CEO Richard W. Berkowitz. "This year is the Sherman's 80th anniversary and we wanted to document the theater's return to prominence in our community." The Pocono Raceway Festival will host more than a dozen racecars including NASCAR's #13, #19, #40, and #74 cars. "Whether or not you are a race fan, downtown Stroudsburg will be in bloom with over 100 vendors and retailers," said Berkowitz. "There will definitely be something for everyone as we roll out the red carpet to kick off the summer season." Along with the wide-variety of activities throughout Main Street, the festival features the talent of many regional musicians. Two stages will be active throughout the day and include performances by: North of the City, The Q & A Session, Randy Bigness & Friends, Long Time Comin', Blues Conspiracy, Riff Raff, TNT, Dealer in Wares, Blue Planet, Boots & Saddles, and of course - The Marshall Tucker Band. RACEWEEK IN THE POCONOS

Well Folks it is now officially RACEWEEK here in the Poconos. The crew semi's started rolling into town late Sunday night and campers can be found everywhere that there is a parking lot. If you want to be a part of the circus just jump onto Rte 115 and head south from Blakeslee. As soon as you cross over I-80 you will see the vendors set up on both sides of the road clear on down to the Race Track. Here you can purchase the from the most common to the most exclusive of Nascar Memorabilia. I'm still working on them to get more Greg Biffle Gear though. If it is Earnhardt, Stewart, Gordon, Johnson etc... the memorabilia and assortment of gifts are plenty!
For those of you who have never seen a race at Pocono you should know two things. First it is probably the worst track on the Nascar Circuit to watch the race because of the high banks and the overall enormousness of the track itself. On the positive side the Mattioli's (Owners of Pocono Raceway) put on a First Class Performance as hosts. All along Long Pond Road buses transport racefans from the parking lot to the Grandstand free of charge so after a good morning of some serious tailgating you just mosey through the woods and out onto Long Pond Road and hop on any bus. Parking is FREE as well and that is rare for any sort of major event in todays world!
My suggestion to you is get out there and suck up all the excitement these races bring to the Poconos! Be a part of the Nascar Phenomenon in Pocono.
