Holiday Celebrations in Jim Thorpe!

In the Pocono Mountains we try to cherish every second of every season. Being a 4 Season Region, The Pocono Mountains celebrates all holidays and festivities perfectly, and not a single day goes by where there aren't some festivities, celebrations, or Pocono Resort specials happening in celebration of a Pocono Tradition. Is it ever to early to get ready for the Holiday Season? Christmas in the Poconos is 2 months away, but that 2 months flies by! Everyone agrees that getting ready for Christmas starts in October as it is. There are certainly some Christmas and Holiday Celebrations going on this 2012 Holiday Season.

Jim Thorpe Pa is one of the more historic towns in the Pocono Mountains. It is also one of the hot spots for Pocono Festivities and Holiday Celebrations. In Downtown Jim Thorpe, the Celebrating of Olde Time Christmas begins December 1st and 2nd and then December 8th and 9th. Christmas is a special time of year in Jim Thorpe, and so the town will celebrate with the 2012 Jim Thorpe Olde Time Christmas Celebration. The celebration will included train rides with Santa, a live Nativity, Historic District Ghost Walks, Olde Time Christmas Arts Bazaar, gingerbread house contest, strolling carolers and musicians, expanded shopping hours, and seasonal dinner specials. If that is not enough, ticketed entertainment will take place each Saturday night of the Olde Time Christmas at the Mauch Chunk Opera House. Some More Fun fall Festivities in the Poconos

Fall Foliage is officially here on the calender and in the air with the Beautiful weather we have been having here in the Pocono Mountains. The cool breeze is blowing and the Festivities are rolling through the region as everyone gets their fair share of Fall Foliage in this 2012 Fall Season. We here in the Poconos do Fall BIG in celebrations of Festivities, Haunted House Attractions, Concerts, and many more.

Only a few days left of this Classic Fall Festivity. This will be the final weekend, and I'm sure it will go down with a bang. Come celebrate the autumn season at Blue Mountain's Harvest Festival. This event will be held each weekend for seven consecutive weekends. Enjoy scenic lift rides, food and specialty vendors, a corn maze, haunted hay rides, pumpkin picking, painting and chuckin', plus live music, games, and amusements. This is a great Fall Festivity that is fun for the whole family!

Recurring every weekend from September 21st through October 31st is the classic Hotel of Horror located in Saylorsburg Pa of the Pocono Mountains. Already going on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday this is a must for all those in the Poconos and love a good scare! There is evil lurking as Fall and Halloween inch closer and closer. There will be Three state of the art attractions located inside the Legendary Abandoned Lake House Hotel in Historic Saylorsburg, PA. -Nitty Gritty Band at Penns Peak on September 21st, 2012. Doors Open at 6PM and Show Begins at 8PM. Iconic and Influential band with Country and American Roots Music. 

-Draw The Line Aerosmith Tribute Band at Mt. Airy Casino Resort. September 2nd, 2012 at 7PM. Performing your favorite Aerosmith hits on Labor Day Weekend in the Poconos.

- Mount Airy Fireworks Specials will take place Saturday September 1st, 2012 beginning at 9PM, and is set to go off over The Pocono Resort's Sprawling Lake. Bring lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy FREE SHOW.

-The Pocono Garlic Festival will once again grace the Pocono Mountains of Northeastern Pennsylvania with the aroma of Garlicy Goodness. Over 50 vendors will be offering everything from garlic vinegar and garlic ice cream to garlic-themed pottery and paintings. A showcase of local musicians, educational demonstrations, and plenty of children's activities make this a great family event. The festival will be held from 10am-6pm on 9/1/12 and 9/2/12 at Shawnee Mountain Ski Area.

-Take the train to Scranton for two great events, La Festa Italiana and Steamtown Railfest. The train will depart from Delaware Water Gap at 9am, East Stroudsburg at 9:15am and Cresco at 10:10am, arriving at La Festa Italiana at 11:45am, and Steamtown Railfest at 11:50am. The return trip departs from Steamtown at 3pm and La Festa Italiana at 3:10pm. There is nothing like a Scenic train ride through the Pocono Mountains at the end of the Summer.

Some Upcoming Fun Events in the Poconos!

22nd Concours D'EleGance- The mission of the Concours d'Elegance of the Eastern US is to provide a world-class collector car exhibition that will attract public attention and financial support for the lifesaving programs and services of the Burn Prevention Network. The event begins on Friday with a welcome reception for concours show exhibitors and sponsors. Saturday will feature the road tour which is open registration. Enjoy a leisurely tour of country roads and the scenic beauty of the Pocono Mountains. All cars 1975 or older are welcomed to register and participate. A special concours road tour collectible and lunch will be provided for all tourers. After the tour, a Styling and Design Roundtable will take place, registration is required. Location is at The Skytop Lodge Route 390, Skytop Pa. $25 Adults and Children 15 and over.

 

17th Annual West End Car Show in the Poconos - Fun for the whole family! The West End Car Show includes the Pocono Old-Tyme Farm Equipment Association, Peddle Tractor Pulls, Pocono Mountain Garden Railway Society, flea market, craft show, music by Chris Eckert from 11am-3pm, and refreshments. Spectator admission is $3 per person; children 12 and under are free. Parking is free. The show will be held from 8am-3pm rain or shine. Located at The West End Fair Grounds on Route 209 in Gilbert Pa of the Pocono Mountains!

 

Shawnee Fireworks Display on July 3rd - Shawnee Mountain Ski Area is holding its annual Independence Day Celebration and Fireworks, which benefits the Shawnee Volunteer Fire Company. Featuring an outdoor DJ, Uncle Sam stilt walker, and Mark Clark's "All American Magic Show', and various food and craft vendors. A delicious Hickory Licks barbecue is planned. The cost $10 per car load. The fireworks display will be at dusk, approximately 9pm, presented by the Interstate Fireworks Display Company.
