History of Tobyhanna!

Your Personal Pocono Mountain Guide and Blogger here to tell you a little bit about beautiful Tobyhanna Pennsylvania. From about 1900 to 1936, Tobyhanna lakes were the site of active ice industries. The ice was cut from the lakes during the winter and stored in large barn-like structures. During the rest of the year, the ice was added to railroad boxcars hauling fresh produce and meats destined for East Coast cities. In 1912, Tobyhanna made a  railroad station , telegraph, and post office, and so the federal government acquired land within Tobyhanna that became the Tobyhanna Military Reservation, later Tobyhanna Army Depot , which was used as an Artillery training ground.

Tobyhanna is now home to many who migrated here from the Philadelphia and New York City metropolitan areas. There are fun things to do in this quiet tight knit town of Tobyhanna. Many restaurants, bars, movie theatre, and of course the Tobyhanna State Park call this area home. Homes are for sale at fantastic prices, and there are many private communities with many amenities including pools, beaches, fishing, and clubhouses. Helping you find your dream home in the Poconos is my specialty and pleasure in doing so with friendly face and with todays technology and old fashion service.
